JDC specializes in materials testing and failure analysis of organic materials including plastics and polymers, adhesives, paints, petroleum products, medical devices, textiles, plumbing fittings, etc.

Forensic and diagnostic inquiry into failed processes or products are conducted using scientific analytical instrumentation and methods.   Basic methods such as Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive X  ray (EDX) spectroscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy are typically used.   Other specialized techniques, such as surface analytical techniques (Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES),  Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis (ESCA)), thermal techniques (Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) ) or chromatographic (Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS), High Performance Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (HPLC/MS)) techniques can also be used if the project requires them.  The principles and methods of forensic engineering are employed.

JDC provides rigorous, accurate and timely materials and failure analysis results for Materials & Processing (M&P) or forensic (litigation) needs.
